The Challenged Credit Consumers List

These individuals have a combination of low credit scores and have a higher than average revolving debt and revolving credit utilization. Carrying a debt balance month to month on average keeps their credit scores lower. They might have also been late on payments in the past, but do not have a current delinquent payments.   These consumers are looking for a way off the hamster wheel of high interest debt.

Develop a marketing approach that uses multiple methods to communicate with these prospects.  Because they are probably used to late notices or last chance payments, try to perk their interest with opportunities to win a prize or pay off their debt.  Many companies use a check-like feature or show a payment schedule that greatly reduces their current obligation.  Email can also be effective if done regularly and with value added content for the consumer.

Here are some really solid ideas to help you get the most out of your challenged credit consumer list;

1.  Don’t remind them of their poor situation – this will only lead to denial and upset callers.

2.  Emphasize what you can do to improve their situation – demonstrate value and show benefits and features.

3.  Show your awards, credentials and make it easy for someone to research who you are.

4.  Don’t sell too much in your marketing (TMI or too much information can destroy your response rates).
