A Marketing Goal Without a Plan Is Just a Wish

You have a marketing goal.  Great! Do you have a plan?

Imagining that your goals are going to be reached without a plan is not realistic.  Of course, it would be nice if wishes were made and *poof* goal achieved!  Unfortunately, this is not how life works.

Four tips for developing your path to success:

  1.  Make a very specific, easily measured, crystal clear plan.
  2. Don’t just state how you are going to achieve these goals, but why your customers should choose you and how you are better than your competitors.
  3. Be meticulous when it comes to reviewing the value you add. Understand what you are offering so you can make it easily understandable and desirable for your customers or prospects.
  4. If you haven’t considered a marketing plan, then you may as well be tossing coins into a wishing well.

Additional Considerations when developing your Simple Plan Cycle include:

  • Raising Brand Awareness
Map out how you are going to get your target market informed about your products and services and keep them thinking about your brand. Choose a route to spread your brand – some examples are mailing lists, email marketing, telemarketing, social media, and content (articles or blogs).
  •  Enabling Sales
Train your sales force on how you plan to achieve your goals and ensure leads are properly followed up. Utilize a CRM to better organize your team on lead flow.
  • Generating Leads
This correlates with your raising brand awareness tactics. Depending the route(s) you take, make sure you are using analytic software and a CRM to properly track and manage your lead flow.

Get everyone on your team involved and have them offer their input on the plan. Now, with your strategic marketing plan, your marketing goal can be more than just a wish!
